If your student is interested in summer school there are a couple of options. Students who are looking to earn new credit, they will take courses through Virtual Prince William (VPW). Summer school registration is currently open through the VPW website, courses cost $375, and registration may closes May 24.

If your student needs to recover (retake) credit from a previous course failure, they can participate in the Launch program. This will be at Osbourn Park High School this summer, and registration opens on 4/8 through the PWCS Summer School site. Registration closes May 24. There is no cost for students who need to recover credit. This program is not for those looking to earn new credit. The Launch program also includes an SOL remediation and retesting program. Teachers and school counselors will work with students and families who be a good fit for this program.

There are also high school enrichment programs available, at a cost, for families to explore. This includes programs like welding, college application essay writing, human anatomy, and poetry writing. These are not for high school credit but to enrich and expand students’ learning. Please see the full list at the PWCS K-12 Discovery Enrichment Programs.

It is important that students and families communicate with their student’s school counselor about any plans to take summer school courses to ensure that we have accurate plans in place for their 2024-25 schedule and for the student’s academic plan.
