FAQs

What supplies does my student need?

Beyond the traditional school supplies of a pen, pencil, paper and possibly a highlighter, all students at Gainesville High School will be receiving a PWCS device with cloud storage. Subjects such as art and music might require additional supplies specific to each course. Those supplies have been included in each department page; however please hold off on purchasing these until the student meets with their teachers.

PWCS devices will be given to students on the first day of school through their advisory class. Gainesville HS will be piloting as an Apple School for the 2025-2026 school year. Instead of laptops, students will be given iPads with keyboards this school. Stay tuned for more details on this exciting development!

My student cannot access their Student VUE or I cannot access my ParentVUE – help!

Your student’s password may need to be updated. Directions on how to do so can be found at the PWCS password reset site.

If you need help with your ParentVUE account, please submit a help request via the ParentVUE Assistance form.

How does my student get involved with sports and clubs?

Check out the GHS Student Activities page! We also encourage students and families to ask questions at the extracurricular fair at the New Student Orientation and Back to School Night.

How can I best support my student?

Parents/guardians are critical members of the GHS community. Your support of your student and our school community is essential to all our success. We encourage you to participate in the PTSO, Athletic Boosters, and other parent organizations.

Parent VUE is a great way to monitor student grades, report attendance, check graduation requirements, view testing history, and immunization compliance. If you don’t have a Parent VUE account, you can find more information on the Parent VUE web page.

I have a senior – help!

Check out the Class of 2026 senior page for information on caps and gowns, senior events, and graduation. We will have a graduation ceremony date later in the school year, and we will announce the date as soon as we can.

Information on using Naviance, Common Application matching, and transcript requests can be found on the GHS Counseling page. Students can access their most up to date transcript in StudentVUE. Senior transcripts that include 2025-2026 classes (works in progress), will not be ready until early to mid-September. Once they are ready, we can send them to colleges. Learn more about the transcript process in PWCS on the Student Transcript Requests page.

Students and families can check out the Class of 2026 Smore for more college and career resources to plan for senior year.

Senior Portraits are done through Victor O’neill Studios. Please follow the link below to choose your session type and appointment time:
