
Pathways to Global Citizenship
The Pathways to Global Citizenship Program includes 5 academic pathways and 11 thematically grouped sequences. Academic pathways are intended to ensure that all students have a rigorous academic experience commensurate with their interests and academic goals. Each pathway encourages students to identify and engage with topics of global significance while developing and refining skills in performance, research, critical thinking, evaluation, and synthesis of ideas. The goals of Pathways to Global Citizenship are to support students in identifying and engaining with topics of global significance; developing skills in research, critical thinking, evaluation, or snythesis of ideas; exploring academic interests; and encouraging leadership and community involvement.
Students may apply for transfer into the Pathways to Global Citizenship Program at Gainesville High School through the Mathematics, Engineering Design & Construction, and Biomedical Science programs.
Mathematics candidates should have completed at least Algebra I in middle school. Students who apply to the Biomedical Sciences Pathway will be required to study PLTW Biomedical Science coursework in ninth and tenth grade. Students who apply to transfer into the Engineering, Design and Construction pathway will take PLTW Engineering coursework in ninth and tenth grades, prior to studying Building Trades in eleventh and twelfth grades.

Specialty program applications will be accepted November 1, 2024-February 1, 2025.

Who can apply?
Transfers can be accepted to the following programs for raising 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students from the corresponding schools.
- Mathematics: Brentsville, Battlefield, Patriot, and Unity Reed
- Biomedical Sciences: Brentsville, Battlefield, Patriot, and Unity Reed
- Engineering Design & Construction: Battlefield, Osbourn Park, and Unity Reed
Program Information
Transfer Program
Students participating in this program will transfer to the program location for all courses and activities.
Express bus transportation is available to accepted students living outside the program location boundaries through Specialty Program Transportation.
